Helen the baby fox

Helen the Baby Fox 子ぎつねヘレン
I have fallen in love with this movie, Helen the baby fox, also known as 子ぎつねヘレン (Kogitsune Helen). Based on a true story, it's one of the sweetest and most touching movie I ever watched. Portraying the innocence of a child and how the fox struggles to live with the child's tender care; How the fox eventually call out to the child as though he was the mother of the child had in fact moved me to tears... I shall not talk about the ending, in case you are intending to watch it.

Anyway, here's the synopsis of the story:

Taichi, a young boy who has just arrived from the big city, discovers a `northern fox' puppy crouching near the side of the road and despite the objections of those around him, decides to take care of the charming creature... But, somehow the baby fox puppy cannot see, cannot hear and cannot bark. Taichi named the fox `Helen', after Helen Keller, the first lady to use sign language to communicate. It responds to Taichi's devoted efforts to care for her and begins to strive to live. The boy and his veterinarian family watch over her with encouragement and love. The story is based on an incident actually experienced by TAKETAZU Minoru, who is involved in wildlife conservation in Hokkaido. This charming animal story is deeply moving...perhaps to the point of tears.
